Cycling Day 2- Marston Meysey to Corston (West of Bath) - 50 miles

The second day was very hot. We made the mistake of leaving too late: 11:00, not ideal to do outdoor exercise. A few hills on the way, nice countryside. We had our ciabatta for lunch on the edge of Malmesbury, where we would stay overnight on our way back. It was great to just stop on the side of the road and have a picnic there. We met a builder who worked on the tennis courts in Victoria Park in Leamington some years ago! We were chatting about his allotments and cycling when a mate of his cycled passed: he knew somebody who completed the E2E challenge at the age of 76!

Arrived at the campsite at Corston @ 17:30 or so where we met Bill, who has been completing the challenge annually for many years: 23 from my understanding, 50 according to trave. The guy looked pretty young though! Bill, I wish you good luck in your journey.

Had a nice home-made pub meal at The Wheatsheaf. Although we arrived there at 21:10 Eva kindly fixed us a deliciously invigorating dinner, topped up by Richard's single malt nightcap, on the house, thanks to which we had a long, recovering sleep.
